Essex Entrepreneur to Bring Live Storytelling to Life This Halloween
Forget trick or treating for sweets this Halloween. Romford storyteller Kal Papadopoulos, aka The Story Sparkler, is serving up something far more magical: the gift of reading. No cavities, no sugar crashes, just pure storytelling joy that leaves children hungry for more books.
While children across London hunt for the perfect Halloween treat, Kal’s Magical Halloween Read Alouds aren’t just spooky storytimes, they’re a sneak peek into a revolutionary concept that could change how families experience storytelling forever.
“Every venue has its signature magic,” says Kal. “Some brew the perfect coffee, others host killer live music. I want to help a special place become known as the storytelling destination, where families gather every week for tales, giggles, and guaranteed enchantment.”
This Halloween, four lucky venues will get to host her Magical Halloween Read Alouds, a spine tingling preview of what regular storytelling residency could conjure:
• Live storytelling with gentle spooks (perfect for ages 5 to 9)
• Interactive story games that spark imagination
• Memory making activities that send families home giggling
Available bewitching hours:
• Monday 20 October (5 to 8pm)
• Saturday 25 October (5 to 8pm)
• Sunday 26 October (3 to 8pm)
• Monday 27 October (5 to 8pm)
Covering all areas within 10 miles of Romford (additional areas will incur a travel fee) there is a booking deadline of Friday 17 October 2025.
Looking ahead, Kal’s vision is to be a resident storyteller, think DJ but with picture books instead of turntables. “I am on a mission to become the storytelling voice that families seek out, creating a weekly ritual where children know exactly where to find their next adventure,” she adds.
Whether it’s a cosy independent bookshop, a lively community fun day, or a special event, this proven on camera storyteller with an expressive, engaging style is here to spark imaginations, create magical moments, and help children fall in love with reading. As a passionate reading advocate, she delivers tailored performances that respect the author’s voice and impact those looking to build, or rebuild a love of reading.
This Halloween, the real treat isn’t in your trick or treat bag, it’s the chance to be part of storytelling history.
